The short film (25min) is a poetic essay, tracing the journey of Nathalia through the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest and her meetings with protagonists from the forest and the river. Images of the forest and the river in their infinite dimension, stories of people who live in mutual exchange with their environment, the film reflects both micro and macro view on the life within the forest, showing the intertwined ecosystem we are part of.
The protagonists tell their unique stories of their lives while working strongly connected to nature. The poet on the boat explains our life emerging from the water, the meteorologist (INPA / Max Planck Institute) who researches at ATTO (Amazon Tall Tower Observatory) explains the cycle of water and the relation between our life and climate change from a scientific point of view. A student of UFP – Unconventional Food Plants (PANCS in Portuguese) talks about the impact of the food production and consumption in our daily life, that are inseparable from the environment.
All the stories circulate around the flow of energy: the cycle of carbon and water. These elements are not only the primary source of life but also regulate the condition of the planet. The environment is a synthesis of all factors including ourselves.
The film questions our view of life on this planet in its entity and invites the audience to learn about life in its true form: in flux.
Production
This film is made possible through kind support from Goethe Institute São Paulo, and is exhibited at Humboldtjahr 2019 – the event for 250 years anniversary of Alexander von Humboldt in Bogotá, Colombia.
The collaboration has emerged after LABVERDE artistic residency in which both artist participated. It took place in Adolfo Ducke Forest Reserve in Manaus Brazil and at Rio Negro River, in August 2018. www.labverde.com

O curta (25min) é um ensaio poético, traçando a jornada da Nathalia pela Floresta Amazônica Brasileira e os encontros dela com os protagonistas da floresta e do rio. Imagens da floresta e do rio em sua dimensão infinita, histórias das pessoas que vivem em um compartilhamento mútuo com o seu meio ambiente, o filme relata a visão macro e micro da vida na floresta, mostrando o ecossistema que todos fazemos parte.
Os protagonistas contam suas histórias únicas de vida enquanto trabalhando extremamente conectados com a natureza. O poeta no barco explica nossa vida surgindo a partir da água, o meteorologista (INPA / Max Planck Institute) que trabalha na ATTO (Torre Alta de Observação da Amazonia) e explica o ciclo da água e a relação entre nossa vida e as mudanças climáticas a partir de um ponto de vista científico. Uma estudante do IFAM explica sobre as PANC’s – Plantas Alimentícias Não Convencionais – e o impacto da produção e consumo de comida no nosso dia a dia, que é inseparável do meio ambiente.
Todas as histórias circulam ao redor do fluxo de energia: o ciclo do carbono e da água. Esses elementos são não só nossa primeira fonte de vida como também regulam a condição do planeta. O meio ambiente é uma síntese de todos os fatores incluindo a nós mesmos.
O filme questiona a nossa visão da vida neste planeta em sua entidade e convida a audiência a aprender sobre vida na sua verdadeira forma: em fluxo.
Produção
Este filme foi possível graças ao apoio do Goethe Institute São Paulo e está em exibição no Humboldtjahr 2019, o evento do aniversário de 250 anos de Alexander von Humboldt em Bogotá, na Colômbia.
A colaboração surgiu após a residência do LABVERDE em que ambos os artistas participaram. A residência ocorreu na Reserva Florestal Adolfo Ducke, em Manaus, Brasil, com o apoio de pesquisadores do INPA – Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia e ao longo do Rio Negro, em agosto de 2018.
